New blouse

Loot

We just arrived home from spending a really lovely time in San Miguel de Allende.

I found this pretty embroidered blouse and two beautiful

handmade bracelets woven from some kind of palm.

The blouse came in that cute market tote with a pretty paper flower.

Such a nice detail from the shop isn't it?

Makes you want to go back there and shop some more :)

Self

Self-portrait sketch

I mustered all my nerve to share this.

I'm sketching for a self-portrait.

Much idealized... I am not as young or pretty.

Going to do it in watercolor and hopefully finish it

before my impending 44th birthday in two weeks.

Manolo's Shelves

Shelves

Living room shelves

Manolo finally finished installing the beautiful shelves he designed

for the living room's concrete wall. His talent just blows me away.

Love the combination of concrete, wood and stainless steel.

I can't believe we've been living here for a whole year already,

it seems like we moved in yesterday.

New Shelves

New shelves

I just inherited these shelves that were in the entrance/hallway

because Manolo is building new ones for that space.

These look so at home in the studio, it almost feels like he designed them just for me.

Tie Dye

New curtain

Tie dyed & sewed a linen panel for my one of my studio windows this morning.

Window Ledge

Love that it looks like stained glass. I might have to make more for the other windows.

Rubber block scraps

This is the drawer where I keep all the rubber block leftovers from my bigger projects (aka my book for Lark). I plan to make lots of little stamps with them.

♡ ● ☐

Three things I finished today.

Pebbles

Three things i finished yesterday:

a heart shaped box, a moth stone & a fabric pendant.

Can you believe these beautiful pebbles are actually candy covered chocolate?

Prettiest candy ever! And they taste really good too!

They're now decorating my coffee table.

Midnight Blues

Midnight Blues

Night Sky

Last night I needed to unwind so I painted stones.

Queretaro is always windy so it's great to have lots of paperweights

on hand around the house to keep stuff from flying away.

I painted these with acrylics and a very fine round brush.

The beautiful triangle pattern is from one of my favorite Bookhou bags.

Prickly pears

Sweet 'n Juicy

theydrawandcook.com

My favorite fruit right next to mangoes are the sweet & juicy prickly pears.

They're in season right now and I eat at least two every single day.

Manolo eats lots more than two, he's the fruit monster of the house.

I love to photograph and paint them too!

'Tunas' as they're called in Spanish are the fruits of the Opuntia or Nopal cactus.

You can read more about the fascinating paddle cactus here.

My little mariachi bird was featured in a tiny section of an article

of the September issue of Food & Wine magazine

about Nate & Salli's awesome site They Draw & Cook!

Photo 3: I brought back my framed Cyanobird from the Winged Migration show at Bookhou in Toronto. Margie did a wonderful job choosing the frames for my originals. I'm happy i got to keep this one for my studio :) I hardly ever frame my own stuff.
